Flat Earth Studio

I love the works of freelance visual artist Bryce Wymer. Wymer's pieces address human social progression with a subtle graphic tone. Flat Earth Studio, his Etsy storefront, is an excellent place to get one-of-a-kind art at a reasonable price.

Flat Earth Studios is a visual collective currently based out of Brooklyn, New York. Its primary focus is to bring people together and promote their personal works as well as collaborative pieces. If Flat Earth was a song "Own Original Art" would be the chorus.

an obvious starting point

Wish me luck, here goes blog one...

For starters, why not pay homage to the living legend woman who embodies all my favorite things; the one and only Kelly Wearstler!
Talented designer and gorgeous mommy. I mean, the lady has got it together.

If you have yet to familiarize yourself with the work of interior designer extraordinaire you have either been living under a rock or Half Past Five blog certainly is not for you [feel free to unsubscribe now].

Beyond being a trendsetter and tastemaker, Wearstler has launched collaborations with companies the likes of Sferra, Lee Jofa, Schumacher and most recently her own fashion and home accessories lines. In my opinion, Wearstler's eye for print combination is one that few can rival. AND true story, many of the prints Wearstler uses in her designs are of her own fabrication. So enough designer crushing, onto some recent KWID favorites.

Love the print on her spring 2012 paloma mesh top paired with b+w oxford pumps. I find that a lot of her designs are high-glamour with a sense of masculinity. Could muse over her all day... why, hello Wearstler wallpaper!

Possibly I should do a Wearstler Wednesday post each week? Then again, there are too many amazing designers out there. I wonder, What Would Wearstler Do? – JLT

life after 5:30 pm –

I love my job. No if, and or but, I love my job.

I have been am blessed to be working in an environment where art and creativity are at the forefront of every project, thought, meeting, etc. I work for an institution of higher-education that has distinguished its self like no other, a university for creative careers. Each day is unique from the previous, a new opportunity or challenge that provides an incredible sense of fulfillment. Not to brag, but I have a pretty stellar job.

Yet I face a problem that plagues many, there are simply not enough hours in the day.

Outside work I find myself looking for avenues to find, share, create, research, learn, etc. I obsess over antiques, architecture, paintings, furniture, fabric, fashion, books, blogs, etc. Whether I particularly enjoy a design or not, I adore dissecting its intriguing elements. Half Past Five is a nook, a small, tiny blip on the internet radar where I plan to cultivate and share my interests. If this minute crack in the blog'sphere reaches anyone, I hope he or she enjoys!
